On 29.07.2024 a notorious firearms syndicate was busted, involved in illegal arms supply, extortion, vandalism, murder and more. The head of the syndicate is Rashmi Ranjan Swain and his close associate Utkal Keshari Khuntia. He procures fire arms with his other associates from Munger, Bihar and sells them in Odisha operating from Cuttack. Arrested accused have more than 20 criminal cases and antecedents. Seized: 5 firearms, ammo, vehicles.

On 14.02.2026, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized by the Commissionerate Police at the University Law College campus under Utkal University. A total of 61 units of valuable blood were collected due to the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty and local volunteers in this camp.
